Season 6, Podcast 87, Isaiah 32:1-20, “A King Shal Reign in Righteousness.”Of the first thirty-two chapters of Isaiah, Christ is the central theme in 22 of the chapters, 7 of which relate to the Second Coming. Eleven chapters address the scattering and gathering of Israel. Seven Chapters address the Millennium. That reveals the primary message of Isaiah. It is centered around Christ.In Chapter Six, Isaiah records that he saw the Messiah and was called to be a prophet. Isaiah begins Chapter 32 with Christ.Isaiah 32:1Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgment.Isaiah is speaking of the Second Coming and the Millennium. Isaiah delights in describing the Millenium.Isaiah 32:2-4And a man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land. And the eyes of them that see shall not be dim, and the ears of them that hear shall hearken. The heart also of the rash shall understand knowledge, and the tongue of the stammerers shall be ready to speak plainly.Some of the attributes of the Millennium are a place of refuge; a comforting shadow against the heat of the sun, which is a symbol of being free from adversity; their eyes will be open to see spiritual things; their ears will be open to hear the word of the Lord; their heart shall be filled with knowledge; their tongue shall be loosed to speak the plainness of truth. Isaiah makes a peculiar statement. He says that liberals will no longer be able to hide behind language, and a churlish person will no longer be called bountiful.Isaiah 32:5The vile person shall be no more called liberal, nor the churl said to be bountiful.A churl is someone “who is rude, surly, uncouth, ill-mannered, disrespectful, or difficult to deal with. They have a bad attitude and demonstrate bad behavior.” A vile person is someone “who is extremely unpleasant, morally reprehensible, or disgustingly bad. It is used to describe actions, behaviors, or things that are considered evil, wicked, or of very low quality.” Isaiah condemns such behavior. Isaiah 32:6-8For the vile person will speak villany, and his heart will work iniquity, to practise hypocrisy, and to utter error against the Lord, to make empty the soul of the hungry, and he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail. The instruments also of the churl are evil: he deviseth wicked devices to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaketh right. But the liberal deviseth liberal things; and by liberal things shall he stand.Isaiah calls such people to repentance, or their years will be troubled and filled with famine.Isaiah 32:9-12Rise up, ye women that are at ease; hear my voice, ye careless daughters; give ear unto my speech. Many days and years shall ye be troubled, ye careless women: for the vintage shall fail, the gathering shall not come. Tremble, ye women that are at ease; be troubled, ye careless ones: strip you, and make you bare, and gird sackcloth upon your loins. They shall lament for the teats, for the pleasant fields, for the fruitful vine.Isaiah is speaking of the fall of nations. The Lord charged Isaiah to condemn kings. Tradition has it that it eventually cost Isaiah his life.  To the House of Israel, the Ten Commandments were the law of liberty. It is the violation of the law of liberty that causes their downfall.
