Season 8, Episode 14 - Economist Thomas Sowell, New York Times fact checking, 60-Minutes stories on California's Bullet Train and a massive cave system, Medicare fraud scams, trade tariffs, and more!

from The situation with Jerzee Joe · host Jerzee Joe

In this week's podcast, our quote of the week is from Economist Thomas Sowell on the government’s track record on fixing problems by spending more money. In our stupidest thing I’ve heard all week, the NY Times published a story about NATO and incorrectly told readers what NATO stands for. We’ll recap a story that 60 Minutes did this past weekend on the California Bullet train project to link Los Angeles to San Francisco that began in 2008. As a follow-up to that story, we’ll share some startling statistics on the growth of government in California over the past decade compared with population growth. In yet another California-based story, we’ll play a clip about a series of arrests related to a new multi-billion-dollar Medicare fraud scam centered on hospice care. We’ll give you an example of how President Trump’s trade tariffs are helping to grow the US aluminum industry. We’ll tell you about the recent discovery of the world’s largest cave system, where it was discovered, and how it was formed. Our taxpayer relief shot segment this week is from Oklahoma, where a recently widowed young mother shoots and kills one of two intruders breaking into her home before the police can arrive.
