from The Sportsman's Light · host Patrick
The last days of August are pure preparation: stands hung, shooting lanes cut, licenses bought, rifles zeroed, packs staged by the door. No serious hunter waits until opening morning to get ready. When the moment comes, you fight the way you prepared — or you don't fight at all.Paul told the Ephesians to armor up the same way: put on the full armor of God so that when the day of evil comes, you can stand. Notice the word — when, not if. The day of testing comes for every man: the temptation at maximum strength, the crisis without warning, the ambush you never saw coming. The armor goes on before the battle. Truth, righteousness, the Gospel, faith, salvation, the Word, prayer — these are daily equipment, not emergency gear. The man who dresses for war every morning is the one still standing when the shooting stops. Opening day is coming. Be ready before it arrives.Prayer:Lord, You've warned me the day of testing will come — not if, but when. I don't want to meet it unprepared.Dress me in Your full armor daily: truth, righteousness, faith, salvation, Your Word, and prayer. When the day comes, let me stand my ground. Amen.Challenge:Read Ephesians 6:10-18 and do a gear check on each piece of armor: which one have you been leaving in the truck? Truth? Faith? The Word? Prayer? Pick your weakest piece and strengthen it deliberately this week.
