SEC Bans Pro Players from Returning | Georgia Bulldogs Football News

College football’s recruitment landscape is shaking up as schools eye NFL-experienced players—but Georgia’s Kirby Smart is drawing a hard line: no ex-pros for his Bulldogs. He champions grassroots development and believes current roster spots were earned through sweat, not salary. While coaches like Lane Kiffin embrace the pro pipeline, Smart’s stance clashes with the SEC’s new ironclad rule: no returning to college if you’ve declared for or played in the NFL, NBA, or WNBA. Violators face brutal penalties—half-season coach suspensions, massive fines, and lost voting rights. The SEC’s message? College is for students, not second-chance pros.
