Second candidate filing period opens July 14

The second candidate filing period for the Nov. 3 election opens Tuesday, July 14 and ends Tuesday, July 28. The second filing period applies to all cities in Pipestone County except Pipestone, all school districts, and townships that hold their elections in November. Prospective candidates must file an affidavit of candidacy and there is typically a filing fee. Most local seats up for election are for four-year terms, but mayoral terms are two years and township supervisor terms are six years. Exceptions are noted.
