Second Shift

It's nine-thirty at night, and a Slack message hits our group chat from our CFO: 'Once I get a bite to eat I'm on second shift.' In our company, second shift doesn't mean what it means in a factory. It's a phrase about choosing to come back to the work after dinner — not because anyone is forcing you, but because the work is alive and you want to be in it.
