She also acquired an M.A. from the University of Alabama in Community Journalism, and a Ph.D. from the University of Florida in Mass Communication. Her specialties include New Media/Online Journalism, Newsroom Culture, and Social Media. Cox spent several years as a reporter in newsrooms throughout Florida where she gained experience covering multiple beats for print and online publications. She now teaches journalism and public relations classes at Salisbury University, where she incorporates new and social media techniques alongside traditional newswriting exercises.
