INSPIRE Devotionals With Emmanuel Afiawari Monday, January 5, 2026 Topic: SEE & NAME YOUR REALITY CORRECTLY! Memory Verse: ‭‭"‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree. Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it" - Jeremiah 1:11-12 KJV Bible Text: Genesis 2:19 KJV ‭‭‭‭‭19. And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. INSPIRATION: At the dawn of every new year, people face its wake with contrasting mix of hope, enthusiasm, expectations, anxiety, perplexity and uncertainty. Most people paint on their canvas pictures of gloom and despair and call into being the reproaches that ultimately hurt them all year round. Truth is, whatever we see and name our year as, that's what it becomes. This is a biblical principle set in motion from creation. Whatever name Adam gave the animals became their name and nature! The story of Jabez gives a pathetic clarity to this timeless truth. "And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow" (1 Chroni. 4:9). This man lived a life of sorrow just because his mother named him 'Sorrow.' Can one's name affect them just like that? Yes, it can! "And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (for she died) that she called his name Ben-oni: but his father called him Benjamin" (Gen 35:18). Ben-oni meant, "Son of my sorrow" or "son of my affliction" while Benjamin meant "Son of the right hand." It is no wonder then that God says to Jeremiah, "Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it" This year, gain clarity of vision so you can name your reality correctly. As you do, always bear in mind that "Whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof." The year has been brought before you like the animals were brought before Adam to see what you would name it. I dare you to pick the names that mirror the future you've envisioned. In case you've named anything wrongly or allowed anyone to so do, like Jabez and Isreal, you can effect a name change right away (1 Chroni. 4:9-10; Gen. 35: 18). Yes, you should because you can! TODAY'S TAKE HOME: Names and vision matter to your destiny. Therefore, ensure you see clearly so you can appropriately name the things you want to see manifest in your life. PRAYER: Dear Lord, I receive grace to be more intentional with what and how I see things and how I name them. I have eyes that see clearly and the power of a creative life in my tongue to recreate a future that aligns with Your will so I can see the performance as I name them, in Jesus name.
