When Joe Flacco and John Harbaugh arrived in 2008, the Ravens decided to use red jerseys to help protect the quarterbacks. In 2014 the fashionistas at the Castle were influenced by the black and red jerseys worn by the 49ers QBs and the Ravens changed theirs to black and purple. Now the colors don’t stick out all that much from purple in the heat of the moment during practice. The alternate jersey does nothing to protect the quarterback and if something does happen to one, particularly Joe Flacco, the Ravens, the coaches and the fans will all being seeing red.
