08-23-2026 Seeing Visions & Dreaming Dreams | Week 1 The Deepest Longing of Our Hearts - Pastor Dave Brown In the opening message of the Seeing Visions & Dreaming Dreams series, Pastor Dave Brown shares the vision God has placed on his heart for Redeemer Church during this new season of leadership and ministry. Drawing from Matthew 6 and Jesus' teaching on the Lord's Prayer, Pastor Dave challenges a common understanding of the gospel that focuses primarily on heaven after death. Instead, he highlights Jesus' central message throughout the Gospels: the Kingdom of God is breaking into the world right now. When Jesus called His first disciples to follow Him, He wasn't simply inviting them to believe certain truths. He was inviting them into a way of life, partnering with Him to bring God's healing, peace, justice, and restoration "on earth as it is in heaven." At the heart of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus teaches His followers to pray, "Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven." Pastor Dave suggests that these words reveal the deepest longing God desires for His people: not merely a future hope, but an active participation in God's Kingdom today. The message also emphasizes a foundational truth of our identity. Before Jesus teaches us to ask for anything, He teaches us to pray, "Our Father." We begin as beloved children who already belong to God. We do not earn His love, strive for our worth, or carry the burden of being our own savior. We live from the security of being known and loved by our Heavenly Father. From that identity flows our mission. Following Jesus means more than believing the right things about Him. It means being with Jesus, becoming like Jesus, and learning to do what Jesus did. It means pursuing His priorities together through prayer, worship, community, forgiveness, generosity, service, and loving the people God has placed in our lives. As Redeemer Church looks toward the future, Pastor Dave casts a vision for a church that actively seeks God's Kingdom in everyday life, a people transformed by Jesus and sent into their homes, workplaces, neighborhoods, and community as ambassadors of His presence.
