Seek the LORD First (Matt 6.25-34) - 11-28-21

from Messages from the Word of God · host Nwankwo via Apogee

Scripture texts are 2Chronicles 1.7-13 and Matthew 6.25-34 from the thought, “Seek the LORD First.”There are four Sundays during the Advent season leading up to Christmas. Our theme for this week is hope. I invite all of us to quiet our hearts and minds during this hectic and commercialized season. Let us embrace the Christian tradition and put our focus on the reason for the season, Immanuel, God with us. Because Jesus is with us, we have hope.I.Hope tells us to be concerned but don’t worry. (vv25-27)II.Hope leads to a greater faith (vv28-30)III.Hope keeps the LORD as the priority. (vv31-34)You and I are priorities for God. We know this because of the 1st Advent. Jesus was born into the world to die so that you and I might have eternal life. We look backwards in recognition for what He has done. We look forward in blessed hope of His glorious appearing when He returns for those of us who have accepted Him as LORD and Savior. This is the 2nd Advent. In between the two Advents we have a decision to make.I want to urge each of us to seek the LORD first. Yes. This season has been commercialized and filled with anxiety for many Americans. But the body of Christ has hope. We have a favorable and confident expectation that things will be better. As we seek the LORD first, keep your hope anchored in Jesus! Amen.
