from Holy Trinity + Holy Cross - Sermons · host Holy Trinity + Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral
Today in the Orthodox Church on the third Sunday of Matthew the Gospel lesson comes to us from Matthew 6:22-33. In this Gospel lesson Jesus tell us not to be anxious about our daily sustenance because it will not add one day to our life. Jesus tells us that our heavenly Father knows our needs and we should seek His Kingdom and His righteousness first and all our needs will be met. Worry and anxiety are more prevalent in today's society perhaps more than at any time in history due to the worldwide pandemic each of us is experiencing. Father Micah shares with us a timely message about how we as Orthodox Christians can overcome anxiety and worry by seeking God's Kingdom first in our lives. He reminds us of three Christian principles; charity, prayer and fasting to practice daily and secretly which will allow us to seek His Kingdom.
