Seinfeld S04E11 — The Contest
from Seinfeld Explained — Episode by Episode
George's mother catches him with a magazine and injures herself screaming about it to the entire hospital, leading to his vow of abstinence that becomes a bet between the four friends to see who can hold out longest. The universe immediately responds with perfectly calibrated temptations: a naked woman moves in across from Jerry's apartment, George's hospital visits coincide with attractive nurse sponge baths, and JFK Jr. shows up at Elaine's aerobics class. This episode reveals how competitive pride turns basic human impulses into feudal territory battles, with everyone claiming royal titles for sexual abstinence while deteriorating into sock fights and stranger-yelling. Jerry's moment of honesty about the contest horrifies his virgin girlfriend who storms out and immediately drives away with Kennedy, while Kramer's shameless surrender gets him exactly what everyone else could only watch through windows. — YouTube: https://youtube.com/watch?v=wLR5DSsURSc Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/seinfeld-s04e11-the-contest/id1883406666?i=1000756218837 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/episode/4zoxKbyOf02vdc2JZV7IML Website: https://explainedpodcasts.com IMDb: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098904/ TVDB: https://thetvdb.com/series/seinfeld TMDB: https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/1400
