Selena made her acting debut at the age of ten on the children's television show Barney & Friends. She played the role of Gianna for two years. After Barney & Friends, Selena guest-starred on several other television shows, including The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and Walker, Texas Ranger: Trial by Fire. In 2007, she landed her breakout role as Alex Russo on the Disney Channel series Wizards of Waverly Place. In addition to her acting career, Selena also began to pursue a career in music. In 2009, she formed the band Selena Gomez & the Scene. The band released three studio albums, all of which were commercially successful.
