In American, can money buy you a Senate seat or a governorship? If you're billionaires like Meg Whitman, Carly Fiorina, or Linda McMahon, the answer this year was no. Of the 58 self-financed candidates that have run for the House or Senate this year, more than half were out before election day even came around.
