Self- Love: Guarding Your Heart with Boundaries and Grace
from Diary of a Healing Virtuous Woman · host Virtuously Joy
Bible Verse:“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” – Proverbs 4:23Diary Entry:There was a time I confused self-love with selfishness. I thought setting boundaries meant being cold or unkind. But now I know—boundaries are biblical. They honor God by protecting what He’s placed inside of me. When I started raising my standards, some people fell away. But that’s okay. I’m learning that everyone can’t access the same level of my heart.Loving myself means respecting who God created me to be, not settling for what feels convenient.Words of Encouragement:You can’t pour from an empty vessel. Loving yourself through the lens of Christ isn’t vanity — it’s stewardship. The same way you protect your peace, protect your purpose. Self-love says, “I am worthy because God said so.” Setting boundaries doesn’t make you hard; it helps you stay whole.Journal Prompt:Where do I need to establish or reinforce boundaries to protect my peace and purpose?Prayer:Heavenly Father, help me love myself the way You love me. Teach me to honor my temple, my heart, and my time. Give me wisdom to know when to say yes and when to say no. Amen.
