Self-Preservation, The Greatest Motivator

from FROM THE Nth POWER: A Path to Rational Spirituality · host Nicole Devlin

We all do things that we want - and make excuses as to why. This is not because one is being negligent, it is becuase people, even the best of them, are motivated by self. Self, in and of itself, is not bad. It is a part of our entire wholistic being. The point is not to be full of self, or selfish, but to understand your own self-serving and self-preserving motivations. When you do this, you can learn not to judge yourself. As a result, you do not need to judge others. Everything, when peppered with neutrality is neither good nor bad. It is understanding what you do, getting clear about what motivates what you do, that enables you to find greater peace. Without peace, how CAN you experience greater connection to others? It is only through self-awareness that one can experience true connection and empathy for others. You don't need to people-please. Be Yourself, it's what the universe wants from you (and will get you to do) anyway.
