Self-Righteous Rage - Vol. 41

from The Pugnacious Pilgrim Podcast

Hello pilgrims and welcome back to the podcast. Well, depravity struck our quaint little lake town again, and Mike and I made the last minute decision to shift gears and tackle a conversation with a direct impact on our local community. Small town news became a national headline, as a couple teenage girls decided to record themselves bullying another teenaged girl from their school, with disgusting racist labels and revolting mockery of her previous attempt at suicide. But that’s not all. As the city mustered up on social-media and picked sides, what became abundantly clear was how this issue—like so many others before it—was going to shape up as another opportunity for grown adults to remind the next generation of the division which so often occurs with keyboard warriors and social-justice vigilantes. All of this was a springboard into our deeper conversation of the evening, which was centered on the idea of self-righteous rage and how people are so quick to demand justice, while simultaneously taking the opportunity to make sure everyone is well aware that they would never ever have the capacity to do something so evil. Naturally, this was a great opportunity for us to share the gospel and how it isn’t good news for those who would never sin, but is instead good news for those who acknowledge their own sinful hearts as well as the mighty mercy of their good and glorious Savior, Jesus Christ.
