Selfish vs. Selfless Love in Star Wars

As the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy revealed, the Jedi Order forbade romantic relationships and other emotional attachments. This is ironic considering that Luke Skywalker's love and attachment to his father ultimately saved the galaxy. This begs the question: why were the Jedi so frightened by love? I believe that they feared that all love would ultimately turn selfish and lead to poor choices. However, as we know, love and attachment can also be our greatest strengths when they are done selflessly. Join me as we examine the difference between selfish and selfless love.
