Sen. Pfaff picks a Wisconsin state meat — and weighs in on the budget
from WIZM - La Crosse Talk Interviews · host WIZM News Staff
He won’t pick a state cheese, but we pinned down Wisconsin state Sen. Brad Pfaff on a state meat — and perhaps a more controversial state vegetable — this week on La Crosse Talk. Pfaff joined us in studio for a lighthearted discussion about why the state Legislature should “waste its time” doing things like picking a state meat — though he suggested that could come after the budget is finished. Not long ago, the Legislature couldn’t even agree on a state cheese. So, we got Pfaff’s pick for a state meat and veggie, plus how a state rep. would go about crafting legislation to make it official. After that, we got into the state budget. Pfaff doesn’t think it’ll be done by the June 30 deadline, even though the Legislature has some incentive — it’s out of session until Labor Day once the budget is passed. Pfaff noted the budget might, just might, require some Democratic votes to get across the finish line — something Republicans haven’t needed in over a decade. We wrapped up the conversation with Pfaff’s thoughts on the Republican plan to cut $87 million from the UW System budget.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
