Senator Chris McDaniel

from Tactically Acquired · host Rusty Mardis and Kevin Eagles

On this episode of Tactically Acquired I sat down with Army Veteran, NKU Alum, and current Kentucky State Senator Chris McDaniel. Senator McDaniel discusses his time at the Citadel (arriving at the age of 16), why he was called “baby” airborne (#standup – hookup), his time as an Army Infantry Officer, the reasons behind going to NKU’s MBA program, how he got into politics (#who is they), and tips and tools for transition and life success. Our goal is to document military connected living history in a fun and easy environment. We will capture the stories of our active duty, guard, reservists, veterans, ROTC and their families. Sharing their stories, adventures, and journeys across the military life cycle. The podcast is for anyone interested in joining the military, has been a part of the military, or who wishes to learn more about military life. In addition, we want to bridge the growing military-civilian divide through education. This is “unfiltered” meaning we will go over the good, the bad, and yes, maybe even the ugly of being a military connected individual. This is from Northern Kentucky University’s Veterans Resource Station in partnership with the Department of History. Produced by Professor Kevin Eagles. Join us every fourth Sunday for your monthly dose of an Acquired Taste! Arabic Primer by Sir Arthur Cotton Loyal Books “Languages”, Sir Arthur Cotton writes, “are usually learnt as if it took a long time to learn the grammar &c., but that to speak with a good pronunciation and expression, and freely, and to catch the words from a speaker by the ear were easily and quickly acquired, but this is exactly contrary to fact.” Cotton’s “Vocal system” differs from the traditional grammatical method of learning languages in that it emphasises the development of correct pronunciation and the gradual acquisition of correct expressions and vocabulary. This is achieved through listening and repeating words and phrases uttered by a teacher. In the case of this audiobook, the teacher is the reader himself. The Arabic Primer contains only the simplest and most basic Arabic words. It allows the student to gain a foundational knowledge of the sounds and expressions of the Arabic language. Having mastered this work, the student can continue to develop his or her knowledge of Arabic through more advanced textbooks.
