Sensex swings 1,100 points, IT saves the day

Markets opened the week with a wild ride. The Sensex closed just 77 points higher but swung nearly 1,100 points intraday, as crude oil surged above $110 on Middle East tensions, the rupee hit a record low, and foreign investors kept selling. IT was the surprise winner, up 2.43%, while Auto bore the brunt of oil fears. Gland Pharma stole the show with a 15% rally after a 97% jump in quarterly profit.
