from The Common Good Podcast · host Brian From

(00:00-09:10): American fashion brand sparks outrage over school shooting-themed hoodies. Brian and Ian respond to the appalling nature of profiting off of tragedy, and address how the models could imprint themselves on it. (09:10-18:23): Young Life Voted Off Campus at Duke due to the group’s sexuality policy. The school has a non-discrimination clause for all groups and, as a result, took it away. Brian and Ian discuss how private universities have the rights to do whatever they want. (18:23-27:59): What grinds our gears? Of course, Brian has a problem with everything; even cheeseburgers. Ian is a little more positive with stuff, or just tired. Brian continues with his grinding. He does not like auto updates on computers, or old-man sleep patterns...you read that right. (27:59-37:20): Simon Sinek spoke on servant leadership and how leaders take necessary risks to be an example first. Brian and Ian relate this to leading a church and how talking isn’t enough. Leaders need to step out and set the way by example. (37:20-47:26): Baby boomers’ wealth is 12 times greater compared to millennials. Brian and Ian touch on the drastic differences between generational income and the reasons why. Savings, 401k, etc., there are ways to build wealth, but are we doing enough? (47:26-57:24): We are pleased to be joined by Dr. Greg Smalley to talk about, you guessed it, marriage. He is the Vice President of Marriage at Focus on the Family, and has written numerous books on how marriage should be. He provides us with tips and references his book “Crazy Little Thing Called Marriage.'' (57:24-1:07:33): Friend of the show, and theological professor at Ozark College, Chad Ragsdale, posted a blog called #holocaust. It is his response to people posing and taking selfies at the Berlin Holocaust Memorial. He touches on the purpose of remembrance, as well as the sanctity of mourning and memorials. (1:07:33-1:14:27): Brian and Ian’s “Weird Stuff We Found on the Internet”: Kentucky women was involved in the opposite of a kidnapping, while a mummy robs a bank. No remorse from the horse of course, and the cow jumped over...a school? Meanwhile, Disney has enough money, don’t they? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
