September 2: U.S.-Iran Strikes and Joshua Wong’s Guilty Plea
from Iniaes · host Iniaes
In the Middle East The U.S. has launched another wave of strikes on Iranian Revolutionary Guard targets, including air-defense sites, radar systems, maritime assets, and communications facilities, according to Central Command. The action comes amid a regional conflict now in its seventh month. Iranian authorities say earlier U.S. strikes near Sirik hit a wedding ceremony, killing several people, including a child, and injuring dozens. Iran then reported attacks on U.S. bases in Iraq and Jordan, with Jordan’s armed forces confirming its territory was targeted. Available reports do not establish what the initial U.S. strike targeted or why. In Hong Kong Pro-democracy activist Joshua Wong has pleaded guilty to foreign collusion under Beijing’s national security law. Wong, 29, is already imprisoned on a separate subversion conviction. The new case carries a potential sentence of at least three years to life in prison. In U.S. courts Tyler Robinson has pleaded not guilty to aggravated murder and other charges in the killing of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk at a Utah Valley University event. A judge allowed prosecutors to continue seeking the death penalty. Robinson is due back in court October 23, when a trial date is expected to be considered. In Massachusetts primaries Two veteran Democrats turned back younger challengers. Senator Ed Markey won his Senate primary decisively, while Representative Stephen Lynch defeated Patrick Roath in the Eighth District. Both races were framed around generational change, but Massachusetts voters declined to make retirement planning a ballot initiative.
