September 23, 2018 - Mark 9:30-37 - "You First!"

It’s one thing to watch a competition or know that some conflict exists somewhere out there. It’s another thing to be caught in the middle of it. Worse than difficult family dynamics and even bigger than world powers colliding, there is the eternal battle for your soul. There is one side, greater than the greatest good, versus the other side, which is worse than the worst evil we have seen. Yet even as the battle rages against a foe we dare not underestimate, we are on God's side. Confident in the Lord, we face an enemy who's already outmatched. This week we see the seemingly upside down battle plans of the Savior: selflessness not selfishness, giving not getting.
