In the Middle East The United States and Iran are attacking tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, escalating a struggle over one of the world’s most important shipping corridors. Any sustained disruption could quickly affect global oil supplies and shipping costs. In Gaza, families held a mass funeral for 100 Palestinians recovered from rubble in the Zeitoun neighbourhood. Thousands more are believed to remain beneath destroyed and collapsed buildings. On Ukraine diplomacy U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrived in Kyiv after meeting Vladimir Putin in Russia. The White House said the talks covered substantive plans for next steps, but released no details. In Britain A minister is due to meet Jaguar Land Rover’s chief as the carmaker prepares for potential cuts affecting thousands of jobs. The company has faced tariff pressure and continued fallout from a major cyberattack last year. Nigel Farage says Reform UK did not accept foreign money in breach of electoral law, while conceding the party’s overseas-donation controversy “looks bad.” The Metropolitan Police are considering whether to investigate. In space Germany’s Isar Aerospace has put its Spectrum rocket into low Earth orbit, becoming the first European company to reach orbit with a launcher it developed itself. It is a significant step for Europe’s effort to build independent launch capacity.
