SEPTEMBER 7 - Watch What You Take In3-Year-Bible Reading: Proverbs 23:9; Leviticus 13–153-Year Bible Devotional Book Available on Amazon.________________________________________“Do not speak in the hearing of a fool, for he will despise the good sense of your words.” — Proverbs 23:9“He shall remain unclean as long as he has the disease. He is unclean. He shall live alone. His dwelling shall be outside the camp.” — Leviticus 13:46“Thus you shall keep the people of Israel separate from their uncleanness, lest they die in their uncleanness by defiling my tabernacle that is in their midst.” — Leviticus 15:31________________________________________Have you ever felt like you were doing your best to do what’s right, but everything around you seemed to pull you down? Whether it's the toxic friend group, the music you listen to, or even just what you scroll through online—it all affects your spiritual health. In Proverbs 23:9, we’re reminded that some conversations just aren’t worth having. And in Leviticus 13–15, God gives very specific rules about cleanliness—not just about health, but as a symbol of keeping His people pure and separate from sin. It wasn’t about judging people with diseases but about protecting the entire community from harm. Spiritually, it’s the same with sin—it spreads fast, and it separates us from God. That’s why we have to be intentional about what we allow into our hearts and minds.________________________________________THINK ABOUT IT1. Guard Your Words: Are you trying to speak truth into someone’s life who has no interest in listening? Sometimes the wisest move is to step back and let your actions speak instead.2. Be Aware of Contamination: Just like in Leviticus, where uncleanness could isolate someone, sin and spiritual compromise can slowly isolate us from God and others. What “unclean” influences might be sneaking into your daily life?3. Spiritual Hygiene Matters: We take showers and brush our teeth daily—but what about spiritual cleansing? Confession, prayer, and spending time with God’s Word helps keep us clean inside.________________________________________BOTTOM LINEWhat you allow into your life shapes your heart. Choose carefully what voices you listen to, what you dwell on, and how you respond. God calls us to stay spiritually clean not to limit us, but to protect us and help us live in His presence fully.________________________________________PRAYERHeavenly Father, thank You for caring about every part of my life—inside and out. Help me to be wise with my words and cautious about the influences I allow into my heart. Give me discernment to walk away from foolishness and courage to pursue what is pure and honoring to You. Keep me spiritually clean so I can live in closeness with You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
