“I styled my hair differently, put on some tinted moisturiser and lip gloss and came to work dressed appropriately for a uniformed female member of staff,” says Sergeant Rhona Stace. But this was no ordinary Monday. When she left work on Friday, she had been Rohan, a father-of-two and, well… male. Rhona, a senior prosecutor in Waitemata District, is currently New Zealand Police’s only Male-to-Female (MTF) transsexual officer.
