In this episode, I chat with Professor Sergio Ospina-Romero. A multidisciplinary scholar and musician, he holds degrees in anthropology, cultural history, and musicology, with his research focusing on sound reproduction technologies, Latin American music, and early 20th-century jazz. Professor Ospina-Romero has authored two books—Dolor que canta (2017) and the forthcoming La conquista discográfica de América Latina.—and has published extensively in prominent journals across the Americas. He has taught at leading institutions including Cornell University and several universities in Colombia, and is an active member of various international academic associations. As a pianist and director of the Latin jazz ensemble Palonegro, he recently released the album Two Minutes Apart. His work has been recognized with numerous prestigious awards, including the Klaus P. Wachsmann Prize and a Fulbright Scholarship.
