A Spanish serial killer used TikTok to document his travels while investigators used his own videos to track him down. José Jurado Montilla, known online as 'Dinamita Montilla,' served 28 years for four murders in the 1980s before his release in 2013. He cultivated a benign social media persona, posting hiking videos and travel content to thousands of followers. But when 42-year-old Esther Estepa vanished after meeting him, police analyzed timestamps, scenery, and location data from his videos to pinpoint his movements. His arrest at a sports bar near the Spanish-Portuguese border in May 2024 led to the discovery of photos of Estepa's body on his phone. The Netflix documentary 'The TikTok Killer' chronicles how a digital breadcrumb trail exposed a predator hiding in plain sight.
