Seriti Commission of Inquiry findings set aside

from AM Live on SAfm · host SABC News and Current Affairs

SAfm — The North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria has reviewed and set aside the findings of Seriti commission. The commission cost the tax payer about R140 million. Civil organisations, Right2Know and Corruption Watch argued that Judge Willie Seriti's 2016 findings misled the public by exonerating politicians and public servants in wrongdoing during the arms deal saga. R2K says it believes the commission was selective in choosing who would testify or present evidence. Handing down judgement, Judge President Dunstan Mlambo said that the commission failed to probe certain pieces of crucial evidence. We speak to Ministry of Justice and Correctional Services spokesperson Chrispin Phiri, Corruption Watch's lawyer Caroline James and Independent writer and Researcher and Political Activist,Dr Dale Mckinley
