Aesop, the ancient storyteller, told this fable: Once upon a time, a donkey found a lion's skin. He tried it on, strutted around, and frightened many animals. Soon a fox came along, and the donkey tried to scare him, too. But the fox, hearing the donkey's voice, said, "If you want to terrify me, you'll have to disguise your bray." Aesop's moral: Clothes may disguise a fool, but his words will give him away.Aesop's point is absolutely true: our words reveal very much about our true selves. In fact, Jesus tells us that the words of our mouth reveal the true condition of our heart. This may be a bit alarming considering that statistics indicate the average person spends over one-fifth of their life talking. It is understandable, then, why James cares such much about helping us see the connection between the gospel and our tongue. We need to realize the powerful relationship between this small, influential organ and our heart, faith and life. Today, we continue our series "Gospel Meets Life" today as we focus on Jesus' desire, grace and power to transform our words. We're so glad you're here!
