Sermon: Demilitarizing Your Faitth

We all love some bombastic, powerful language surrounding our theology. Imagery of angel legions and a savior on a white horse holding a flaming sword to smite the unbelievers! It's just what Christ wanted us to portray to the world around us, right? Right?! Well, if we look at what Christ instructed his followers, we see something much less... empowered. In the apostles we see the epitome of humility, leading most to their deaths in the name of their faith. Following Christ looks a lot more like servitude than military victory and when we embrace the image of servitude, we are truly embracing the image of Christ.
