Sermon on the Mount — Anger

This message works through Matthew 5:21-26 and Jesus' teaching that anger, not only murder, falls under judgment. It frames the passage with a principle: focus on the command and you lose sight of the commander; focus on the commander and the command's intent becomes clear. The Pharisees, the teaching argues, treated the law as a checklist while missing the heart. Jesus is concerned with the action, but far more with the attitude behind it. Anger itself is an emotion, not necessarily sin; there is even righteous anger that attacks the sin rather than the sinner. The harder claim is that harbored anger affects worship. From 2 Corinthians 5 and Hebrews 12, the message calls believers to the ministry of reconciliation, asking what making every effort looks like in practice: a phone call, a letter, or seeking forgiveness.
