Sermon: One Another (Turn & Trust)

Christians have leaned on the value of catechism for centuries to summarize their core beliefs. Originally, catechisms and creeds helped those without formal instruction to understand the things of God. Over time these catechisms turn into compliance mechanisms leading many modern believers to overlook their true value. It's time to get back to that and re-explore the catechism of our beliefs. Prepare to be challenged as we undergo the daunting task of declaring what we believe.In this section we look at the importance of love. Love is treated like a virtue of the believer. "If you're a Christian, you should love others." What we see when we look at the scriptures is something very different from this casual "love as a virtue" model often projected. It actually makes sense that so many struggle with different elements of the Bible when you consider that many do not know the very love which is the chief indicator of our alignment with God's Will. God is love. If we claim to have a relationship with God, and to be imbued with the Holy Spirit, how can we justify the lack of love we feel towards all people? The scriptural case is simple: God is love and those claiming to live a life with God as their sovereign cannot justify a life wherein they hold contempt against others.
