SERMON: Singing Is Warfare

from The Shepherd's Church Hosted by The Shepherd's Church

The modern Church has turned singing into something soft, sentimental, and safe. Scripture presents something far more dangerous. From Moses at the Red Sea to Jehoshaphat marching against an army, from David’s war Psalms to Christ singing on His way to the cross, God repeatedly places songs into the mouths of His people when enemies are falling and His kingdom is advancing. In this sermon, we examine how singing carries God’s Word into battle, interprets His victories for future generations, marches before His armies, wages war against fear, and joins the victorious song of the risen Christ. Singing is not liturgical filler or religious entertainment. It is a weapon God has placed in the mouths of His people. We sing when we are winning, when we are bleeding, and when our knees are shaking, because Jesus Christ reigns, His enemies will become His footstool, and the world will one day resound with the song of the Lamb.
