Sermon: You're Not Alone

from The Well CC (BGVA)

Ever feel totally isolated from the rest of society around you, even when you're surrounded by other people?  You're not alone.  The nature of being a Christian means we often feel isolated.  Many individuals in the Bible felt this isolation.  Sometimes it was due to their calling, something due to their circumstances, or sometimes due to individuals actively oppressing them.  Regardless of why it happens, it always teaches us something about ourselves.  When we begin to feel like the whole world is standing against us or that no one can understand our pain, it's important to remember that God has DOMINION over our circumstances, he has DOMINION over our ministry, and he has DOMINION over anyone who would stand against us. The solution for feelings of isolation and loneliness is not just to find another group of people to hang around or replacements for our dependency on the approval/acceptance of the world; but for us to modify our perception so that we prioritize God's control over our situation over whatever feelings of loneliness the world is projecting onto us.
