"Serve In Love" // John 13:1-17 (Sunday 8/4/24)

WE'VE BEEN CHALLENGING one another to identify the people and the places we’ve been called to BLESS. To practice reaching out to those around us by beginning with prayer, listening with care, eating together, and now this Sunday, Mike and Ella Price help us look at the power of SERVING. And living out this practice is an “as you go” kind of thing. It’s about a posture of readiness that doesn’t seek to avoid the opportunity, but rather stands ready to grab an apron, get dirty, and serve. It’s Jesus, seeing a need and stepping forward to meet it. Jesus set aside his crown to put on an apron. It was love that moved Him to stoop low before His disciples. It was the love of Jesus that frames His entire mission. This is the love that’s been changing the world for the last 2,000 years. And the most vivid picture of this love that we can paint with our lives is to serve like Jesus serves. May you and I, the recipients of His lavish love follow His example. May we learn to value the things Jesus values. May we become a people seeking not to be served but to serve. Sundays // Arcata Veterans hall // 9 & 10:30am
