from Beaumont Beat · host City of Beaumont, Texas

We’re going back in time to tell you about a group of young women from Beaumont that made a huge impact around the world from the 1940s to the 1970s.They were known as the Melody Maids, an all-girl singing group led by choir teacher Eloise Milam. Over 1500 girls traveled the world performing for our U.S. troops. A documentary was recently released about this amazing group of girls who got their start on the stage of Beaumont’s historic Jefferson Theatre back in 1942.
