Sesame Street Beginnings: Language to Literacy is part of a Every Day is a Reading and Writing Day, a bilingual (English and Spanish), multimedia initiative produced in partnership with the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF), that provides parents, caregivers, and volunteer coordinators with tools to support the early literacy development of children ages 2-5. Featuring the friendly cast and Muppets of Sesame Street, Language to Literacy is designed to get children and families excited to talk, sing, and use language through everyday moments. Viewers can also enjoy watching real families modeling simple games and activities that support children’s fundamental skills around listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Language to Literacy was originally developed by Sesame Workshop and funded by The Prudential Foundation, and has been has been reviewed and endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
