Followers of Jesus should not be defined by anything on this earth except Christ. Pastor Kirk compares of the believer's walk to a train using the train as a metaphor. God laid the train tracks ahead of time and knows where it is going. People are invited "All aboard!" onto the train however each person has the choice to get on or not. Once you choose to board the train, you must obey. The engine is the Holy Spirit, the mechanism that moves us into action. As you travel on the train you become further apart from the world you left behind. As a believer you must live set apart becoming more godly as you travel further away from the ways of the world. Trying to do it on your own is like trying to drive the wrong vehicle such as a car on the railroad tracks. It won't take long to destroy your car. The fuel for the train is Jesus' blood which atones for our sin. His blood makes us distinct for a different purpose, His service. You have been pulled off the rat race wheel going nowhere and given a different purpose to live on the train with the goal of reaching your destination. A beleiver can do the same action as before for a completely different purpose!
