Set Apart to Serve - Audio

from Chiangmai Christian Fellowship · host Tim Dunham

In an era when everyone can serve God, either on a part time, volunteer basis, or in full time vocational ministry, it is probably hard for us to appreciate the unique role of a Priest or Levite in the OT. They were essentially the only ones permitted to serve God in any capacity. Consequently, they formed a very exclusive group among the Israelites. What exactly was the role of the priest, and given that they so often abused the office, why did God institute the Aaronic priesthood? Like everything else in the Tabernacle, the function of the priest points directly to the work and ministry of Jesus, who is our Great High Priest. But, it also teaches us important lessons about our own efforts to serve God. Every follower of Christ is a part of a holy priesthood according to 1 Peter 2:5. What does Exodus 29 teach us about Jesus role as the Great High Priest, and how can it help us be better servants of God as part of His holy priesthood?
