SFS Minute 1028: Rewards
from School for Startups Minutes
This week, we are talking about the incredible freedom that we all enjoy here in the United States. But what are the consequences, and what comes with it? I want to talk about one more part of freedom and how it rewards us. I'll do that right after this. One of the things about freedom is that it rewards initiative, the people who stand up and say, "I will solve that problem." Freedom loves opportunity, but opportunity has an interesting habit. It doesn't knock and announce itself. It's usually very quiet, hidden inside a customer complaint. But the entrepreneur who hears that complaint figures out that he can solve the problem and that she can make money by doing it. They ask the right question, they volunteer to submit a proposal, and all of a sudden, they have a new company. Opportunities aren't missed because they're invisible. They are missed because no one acted on them.
