SFS Minute 1079: Execution

from School for Startups Minutes

Welcome to the School for Startups Minute with Jim Beach. Oh, to have a great idea. We all love it. In whatever capacity, when we have a great idea about sports, or decorating, or building a garden, or whatever it is, there's nothing that makes us feel better than having a great idea. But in business, there are actually things that can be, as a matter of fact, are more important than a great idea. This week, we've talked about some of them, like distribution, having a customer with cash in hand, and timing. I'm going to suggest another one right after this. Lots of businesses' great ideas have been ruined by bad execution. There's nothing sadder than watching that. My very first business, I had a competitor. They were at a resort in Connecticut that you've never heard of. I was at Stanford and MIT. Who executed better?
