I want to talk about love languages and how understanding them can have a powerful impact on your relationships—with your family, your kids, your spouse, and even your employees or your boss. This concept comes from a book by Gary Chapman, which explains that every person gives and receives love in one or two of five ways. One of these love languages will resonate with you the most, and when someone expresses love in that way, it's when you feel the most valued and cared for. Words of affirmation involve giving someone a compliment that makes them feel great. For a child, hearing their mom or dad say things like "You're so smart" or "You're really funny" can put them on cloud nine. Likewise, your wife wants to hear that she's beautiful—simple words that can mean the world to her.
