Born in El Salvador and raised in Los Angeles, SGN credits his immigrant-Salvi upbringing and the American hustle mentality for his success. He’s a Chicano which means he is of Mexican descent. He’s neither fully accepted by Mexicans, nor fully accepted by Americans. That is why he embraces being a Chicano. JFLOW is also an educator, podcaster, lover of nature, philosopher, and a full-time Foo!Their Story: We (SGN and JFLOW) first connected while teaching in the community of Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles, CA, a socioeconomically disadvantaged area. It was our first time working as professionals within a high school context, and we got to co-teach a reading intervention class. A few years into teaching, we quickly realized that personal growth and character development is not being explicitly taught to young people growing up in dire circumstances. Upon making this observation, we decided to begin working on what would eventually become our first book, This Foo: 7 Lessons for Burros and Bag Chaser$, which is a humorous personal growth book focusing on hustling and healing.
