Shadow, A Fable by Edgar Allan Poe: Plague, the Dead & Gothic Terror

Seven men shut out a plague, then a shadow enters the room they thought was sealed. Shadow, A Fable by Edgar Allan Poe, also known as Shadow—A Parable, gathers survivors around wine, candles, and the shrouded body of Zoilus. Outside, Ptolemais is dying; inside, the men try to drink away what they know. A shape on the curtains gives their fear a presence no locked door can explain. This brief Weekly Spooky gothic reading turns isolation and grief into supernatural dread. Listen as Poe asks what remains inside a refuge when the people taking shelter bring the memory of death with them.
