from Reel Talk With Tay Nicole: Movies With Tay · host TheRealTaylor.Nicole

Shaft (2000) is a neo-noir action film directed by John Singleton and a remake of the 1971 film of the same name. The movie stars Samuel L. Jackson as John Shaft, a tough, wisecracking New York City detective, who has a reputation for taking matters into his own hands. The film's plot revolves around Shaft’s quest for justice when he helps a young man, Walter Wade Jr. (played by Christian Bale), who has been accused of murdering a Black woman, evade his family's influence and face the consequences of his actions. The 2000 version of Shaft brings a modern take to the classic, with Jackson bringing his signature cool and charisma to the iconic role. The film also features Jeffrey Wright as a key antagonist, and Vanessa Williams as a key ally. The movie incorporates action, drama, and a strong sense of social justice, along with a memorable soundtrack by Isaac Hayes, who also did the original theme for the 1971 version. The movie was well-received for its action sequences, Jackson’s performance, and its ability to revive the Shaft legacy while updating it for a new generation. However, it was also criticized for not fully capturing the raw energy of the original. Despite mixed critical reception, Shaft (2000) was a commercial success and has since become a part of Jackson's iconic roles in his career. Are you a fan of the film or the original Shaft series? How would you rate this film? Why would you rate the film that way?If so come join me in discussion about Shaft and lets recap the movie together and see what we recognize.Make sure you guys like, comment, share, and subscribe!Intro (0:00)Introducing The Film (3:35)Telling The Film (6:03)Notes (37:55)Concluding The Film (43:05)#therealtaylornicole #thiskansastaylor #shaft2000 #samuelljackson #richardroundtree #vanessawilliams #johnsingleton #mekhiphifer #christianbale #kansascity #podcast #movieswithtay #blackexperience #arguewithyamama #movies #seeyouatthemovies #kansascitykansas #kansascitymissouri #podcasting #mgmplus #paramountplus #amazonprimevideo #youtubetv #youtube #philo #googleplaymoviesandtv#appletv #fandangoathome
