from The Hour with George Stroumboulopoulos Audio Podcast · host George Stroumboulopoulos
Shai Agassi left a successful career in computers to start 'Better Place'. His vision is to make electric cars a reality. Now electric cars aren't new. They've been around for over a hundred yearsnBut they never quite took off. Batteries are heavy, expensive and they don't take you very far before they need recharging. So how does Agassi plan to get around this? Well the cars would be cheap and outlets to charge your car would be everywhere. You'd have a fee plan like you do for your mobile phone, an unlimited miles plan, a maximum miles plannor even pay as you go. Lastly, if you don't have time to charge your car, you could simply go to a station and they'll exchange your battery in minutes. He's got Israeli President Shimon Peres on board and they're planning to make Israel one big electric car experiment. Denmark are interested toonSo are Hawaii, California and even Ontario.
