from Global Summitry Podcasts · host globalsummitry
This is the first of several interviews on American foreign policy under Donald Trump. President Trump as a candidate rejected many of the foundations of the Global Order that the United States helped establish. Whether initiatives on free trade, relations with allies or rivals, the construction of numerous multilateral institutions, candidate Trump, now President Trump, urged radically different American foreign policy approaches. These interviews will explore the changes to American foreign policy and its consequences for the Global Order that America constructed over the last 70 years. We begin with an interview with Rory MacFarquhar. Rory is currently a visiting fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics but from 2010 to 2016 he held various positions in the Obama Administration. Rory served on both the National Security Council and the National Economic Council and he led various policy teams on international economic and trade issues, including US-China economic relations; economic support for Ukraine, Tunisia and Iraq.
